There were 3! The shiny Gnomes, Album), the Truffauts and the Gostenhof Giants. Along with some other fine talent like the Kern brothers or Albi Illegal and his psychedelic hardrock group the Illegal State of Mind. And we had the Zabo Linde, a club in the south part of Nuremberg which introduced us to great small indie bands in the eighties, like the Feelies, the Go-Betweens, the Milkshakes, the Wedding present, the Television Personalities and many more.
We were all the musical children of one man. Michael Demmler, who owned a small alternative record store and gave me my first very good record. That was a new world. When did you move? And whereabouts in Germany would you say you have the biggest fanbase? I moved to Berlin 10 years ago. Everyone comes here once in a while.
Some old friends who I know from all over Germany moved to Berlin as well. Anyway, no matter where we would do the concert, there will be a lot of people that have to travel for it. I only worry a little bit about the CO2 that will be released only for this one concert…. For example, the Cornfield part. They invented fake names for themselves that were so funny that i got jealous and begged them to make one up for me.
Which i liked, except that i kept the Klaus from my real name. Oli changed to Polli, when we watched too much Monty Python sketches with dead birds. Why was that? We also thought that shortening the name would sound fresh and could help the audience to see us in a new light. Did it help? What would you say were the best and why? Any anecdotes you could share? They loved to play the blues in the backstage room. They were just so adorable, and they let us stay at their homes when we toured in England.
How did this friendship start? I guess that someone wrote letters and then picked up the phone. Maybe a fax here and there…those were undigital times…yes…fax…can you believe it?
How did you end up signing with them? And why only two of your albums came out with them? Spin Art did very good work. They discovered us a little bit too late to start releasing our records from A to Z, so they decided to make their own compilation. The room was crowded only when we were on stage, I swear! It was almost frightening…maybe they were crowding up to beat us up…but no.
They loved it as if the other bands were Poison and we were The Cure. Who were they? And how was your relationship with them? Robert Wolf and Monika Markowitz wanted to try something new and with us they did. After we got guaranteed in the contract that we would play the music the way we wanted to, we were very surprised, but we liked it!
When i was a kid I woke up early in the morning on the week ends and sneaked into the living room where my parents were hiding the chocolate bars. The song seems to use this picture to tell us something about a lost feeling that the author wishes to come back again.
I wish I knew what I was really thinking…still. And why? First I was singing it to someone else, till I recognized is really about me — which made me cry a little bit, because suddenly it became so sad and still sounds happy. How was that experience? Who came up with the ideas for them? What was more fun, recording at the studio or filming videos? For the videos we threw all our ideas together and Iwie would take care of the rest. Hiring a camera and sound man and editing. She still is working in that field and saved our tiny butts from looking stupid with her editing work.
A kiss for Iwie! Recording music was a 10 to job mostly. Later we recorded in huge studios, where Suzie Quatro recorded some hits and was reported to have thrown a cake on the ceiling.
The cleaning woman told us this story from the seventies when she saw Album) well we behaved — except for the last day. I remember getting very drunk at least once when we finished the record and listened to the pre-mixes. Recording new songs was one of my favorite parts of being in a band. Along with most of the concerts.
Who was in charge of that? As a cartoonist I supplied a few comic strips, but the beautiful artworks of the albums and singles are made by Lotsi. Also if you ever considered doing German songs for Throw That Beat? We wrote one German song! Iwie sings it. Kind of a test balloon. We loved it and were about to do at least one or two more. We threw out a sofa once, called the borough, made arrangements for large-article pick-up.
Set it out by the curb. Regular truck comes along, the guys pop it in the back and shear it in two with the crusher, the put each piece in and crush them. We call the borough back My neighborhood actually arranges to have a few dumpsters brought into the community once a year, usually in the summer time.
People come and fill them up with all the crap that's too big for the trash service, like trash cans, broken lawnmowers, warped lumber, etc. I'd take that sort of thing to the dump myself, but if the dump comes to me, well, that's obviously more fuel efficient.
I've recently discovered that best way to get rid of bulky items is just put them on the free section of Craigslist. Depends on where you live in the U. Usually you need a special pick up for bulky items, sometimes even yard work trimmings and the like. Same here, last time I got a new can I had to cut the old one up with a sawzall and put it in a bag in the new can.
Had to put it inside the primary trash can, then put trash in it. I was having the same issue. I put the old can that has a big rip right down the side from top to bottom, right beside the new can. Old can has no trash in it, new can does. They empty the trash and leave the old can.
I'm about to have this same problem. In Hillsborough county Florida we are getting I Dedicate My Life To You - Throw That Beat In The Garbagecan! - Not Particularly Silly (CD cans issued to use. My trash can has now become trash. Or, I would just leave it in the side yard until I make my semi-annual trip to the transfer station. I had the opposite problem. My recycling bin was full, so I put a Album) of additional cans and plastic bottles in a tall kitchen trash can.
They took the trash can. Filled mine with trash then taped the hell out of the top with a note, "Take me I am dead". I just did this last week, took a sawzall to the damn thing and shoved it into the new trash can. I've been thinking how I'm going to do this I have some trash can lids i need to throw away.
On trash pick up day, I placed my old trash can on it's side on top of my new trashcan, it was gone when I got home. I put out two cans where they were stacked. But they were stuck so I just put them out expecting them to dump the trash and leave them stuck together. Nope, they pulled them apart and threw away the one on the inside.
I love that the other trashcan is giving it a look. It says either "I'm disappointed in you. If this town is anything like the one I live in, they will not take that trash can. They only take trash that fits in the city issued trash can. If you want something picked up that won't fit in the trash can then you have to call for them to pick it up or take it to the dump yourself.
I had a hard time throwing away an old Christmas tree. The trash people wouldn't take it bc it was a tree. The tree and yard debris folks wouldn't take it because it wasn't a tree. All you have to do is put one trash can inside the other. I learned this the hard way People are more likely to take junk if they think they are getting away with something.
Not where I live. I jammed a pizza box in the top of mine once and the next day I didn't have a can, only the lid. I can only assume the garbage man got annoyed the trash wasn't coming out and threw out the whole can.
Just take an axe to the trash can and throw the pieces away. I had to do this last month. Also, don't give me that "Who owns an axe? I own an axe. This wouldn't work in my town. Those lazy bastards don't even get off the truck anymore, a mechanical arm picks up the can and dumps it while the guy watches.
If its not in the can, they won't take it. My husband said if you wanted them to take an appliance or couch or something, you could leave a 6-pack of beer or a case if it was something really big and heavy and it would disappear. I bet that would work in this case just put the beer under the note and when they take the beer, they will see it.
This one time after we had a Fourth of July party, we put the recycling and trash cans we had labeled out by the road. Because we had labeled one as trash, they had actually thrown away the whole can. I think it is extremely rude to degrade a rubbish removal system, just because its showing some age but to call it trash, how dare you. I wrote on a garbage can asking them to take it, with no luck. I ended up putting it in a big garbage bag. I actually caught a tweaker trying to steal my trash can today to put empty bottles in.
Not really out of the norm for my neighborhood. At my work we threw out a trash can that was obviously of no use the lid was broken and the bottom had a large hole in it. It's been sitting by the dumpster for almost a month now, and people have been throwing trash in it They cannot legally take a container like this to a landfill. If it hold liquid it cannot be taken. You must break it or cut it and throw it away. Source: work at a metal finishing shop that gets too many barrels that we throw away.
We had the same problem. It took about 6 weeks to get them to take it. Our problem was also compounded by the fact that we lived in a townhouse complex with a common pad for garbage pick-up. So even if we put a sign on it my husband eventually spray painted a sign onto itpeople would put their own trash into it, so then it just got emptied and the can left behind.

I tried one last note and it failed. The only thing I can assume is the garbage man was just zoning out while doing his job. He's got it easier now. We tip our garbage men at Christmas. They seem to have such a thankless job. In the winter my mom tops off his coffee and chit chats with him for a little bit.
Please tell me you mean the shortcut Sorry, forgot, this is Reddit, Logic has no place here. They just don't last like the old ones did. My dad always calls it a "saw saw". Kind of like kleenex. I swear that was the slogan. This is not a big deal, I remember throwing away at least a few dozen cans over 3 years.
People have cans decades old.
