Verified Purchase. The text is in German and the story is set mostly in German about a successful young woman married to this very nice young lawyer and everything is going her way until her husband goes missing and is eventually found dead. The first part of the book is about the 7 days of the trial where she is convicted of his murder. The rest of the book is unraveling the story. So it is criminal romance, a good love story, one of betrayal and the suspense holds to near the end. It is nicely written and a fun read that I could hardly put down due to the suspense.
So Epilog: Der Alptraum am I writing this in English? I read it as part of my language improvement in German and it was a good read for that and the book is better than one written in English and translated into German.
It is written on a high school level. A really great story with a very clever twist at the end. Even though the German in places was quite colloquial I was easily able to follow the story which kept me interested right through the book. I was not expecting the twist at the end.
As soon as I finished this book I bought "Das 5. Gebot" - please see my review on this also. Tony W. Ich habe den 7ten Tag wirklich genossen. My Kindle will not allow me to write in German. This was an exciting read. I enjoyed the dark humor which made the characters believable. I have been in enough German houses to know exactly how the ivory colored couch looked. I have also enjoyed some time in Germany's cheaper hotels, so that was familiar as well. I haven't had the opportunity to visit a German prison, so I had to depend on the author for that.
I loved that the main character was cynical and ironic. This is a well-written novel, almost like a trip to Berlin. One person found this helpful.
The beginning and the middle of the novel were ok but the final resolution was Epilog: Der Alptraum improbable. I read it to practice my German and did add to my vocabulary.
